Greta’s Coffee Table Book (Belly to Baby)
July 10, 2008 by aaronthomasphotography
I photographed Greta for the first time five days before she was born; the next time was ten days later. Greta was back again at three months, six months, nine months, and then when she was one year old. It is one of the joys of my job to create beautiful memories for my customers to enjoy and cherish. I am always amazed with and never tire of photographing the tiny little fingers, toes, ears, eyes, their mouths - these little pieces of this marvelous machine we call a human and the wonderful way everything works so perfectly. The tiny little fingernails that grow and even need to be trimmed, the fingers with the tiny little joints and the chubby little arms. Theses precious new beings change so quickly and so significantly in the first three months, that’s why I enjoy photographing the wedding rings on the baby’s big toes.

After the birth both parents are exhausted and often they do not want to be photographed. That’s why we invite Grandparents, aunts and uncles along to give support, and why the parents become “People Props”.
A definition of “People Prop” is: a parent(s) that helps the photographer with love, support, baby maintenance (if needed), and provides fingers, hands, arms, and sometimes smiling faces to be included in the newborn’s first professional portrait.

It is especially fun when I get to recreate a photograph that reminds us of our family. Greta is photographed in the dress her mother was photographed in when she was a baby. The photograph of her mother in the dress will be inserted on this page and will forever remind them of their history together. And maybe someday, Greta’s baby girl will wear it too!

Ask about our “Bellies to Baby” program for expecting parents, (hint-hint, it makes a great baby shower gift)!
Our “Watch me Grow” program with our Coffee Table Book gives the new parents a wonderful way to add to the newborn’s first year legacy! (It also makes a great baby gift and, who knows, if you get photographed with your new niece, nephew or grandchild you may get in their book!)
